Compete in Envirothon
Regional events take place across the province – browse a listing of upcoming regional events.
Workshops introduce teams of five students to basic concepts in environmental science including soils, forestry, wildlife and aquatics. Workshops allow students to use the tools in these fields and ask natural resource professionals key questions to help them prepare for the testing component.
The tests challenge students to apply their new-found knowledge and skills in an effort to win the championship title of their region. Testing day also includes a presentation component. Teams are assigned a local environmental issue and given time to come up with a solution to the problem. This solution is then presented to a panel of judges. This is an opportunity for students to compile all of their knowledge and practice their collaboration, problem solving, and presentation skills! The total score for each team is based on a combination of scores from the testing and presentation components.
The winning team from each regional competition will represent their local area at the Ontario Envirothon Championship held in May/June. The team that wins the provincial competition will represent Ontario at the North American Envirothon Competition that summer.
