A New Tree Planting Opportunity for Landowners: Forest Ontario’s Over-the-Counter Program

If you’re a landowner interested in planting trees on your property, you might be eligible for funding assistance from Forests Ontario’s Over-the-Counter (OTC) Tree Sales Program. Unlike our 50 Million Tree Program (50 MTP), the OTC Program is designed to support small-scale tree planting initiatives across the province.

Landowners will not be expected to enter into an agreement with Forests Ontario, and there is no strict minimum number of trees or land acreage necessary to apply; however, nurseries may reserve the right to enforce a minimum order size.

Additionally, we request that you provide us with a record of your tree seedlings’ location, once they have been planted.

Seedling stock is limited, and applications will be read on a first-come, first-serve basis.

Additional qualifications for the Over-the-Counter Program:

• Seedlings are not intended for commercial planting
• Seedlings cannot be used in combination with other Forests Ontario funding, including the 50 MTP
• A copy of paid-in-full tree nursery receipts must be submitted for all approved seedlings prior to receiving the funding from Forests Ontario
• Seedlings must be ordered from one of the following nurseries: Somerville Seedlings, Ferguson Tree Nursery, Richardson’s Pineneedle Farms, or St. Williams Nursery & Ecology Centre
